What does it mean to be Chinese? (not the citizenship but the cultural definition)
As a Chinese or as a non-Chinese, what in your opinion does it really mean to say that someone is Chinese or to be Chinese?
I think we'd be surprised at some of the answers we'd get as the definition of what a Chinese is varies and is currently very ill-defined. Are Chinese only PRC citizens? Are westernised ABCs Chinese? Are Mandarin-speaking westerners living in China, Chinese? Are all Han people Chinese? What does it mean when you say ethnic Chinese? What of ethnic Chinese who no longer practice any Chinese traditions/culture? Can it even be defined?
